Leading prestige car dealership group Dick Lovett has invested in a Vickers energy management system at two dealerships at its Bristol site, resulting in a combined reduction of 47.32% in energy usage. Following installation by Vickers Energy Group at the site, the report at the end of the first 12 months has revealed a reduction in consumption of 261,826kWh.
The family owned company represents brands such as BMW, MINI, Ferrari, Maserati and Porsche and has committed to a long-term energy efficiency plan, leading the way with environmentally conscious and socially responsible business practices. Strict procedures are in place to commit to the environmental policy, each car is displayed with an eco-efficiency rating and waste disposal is carefully monitored.
To make a significant reduction in the use of fossil fuels and the carbon footprint of the business, the energy management system was installed. The tactic has seen brilliant results over the first year: CO2 emissions been cut by 48.18 tonnes and the gas bill reduced by £9,599.
Through a single centralised control unit the system regulates the heating across different temperature zones to the nearest kilowatt hour, without the need for different systems, clock settings or equipment. Highly accurate digital sensors are positioned throughout the site and calibrated to ensure 0.1degree accuracy.
The system is self-learning and uses predictive tools to constantly adapt heat settings to maintain the required temperatures in every zone of the building. It automatically factors in unpredictable issues such as the weather, open doors, manual errors, machinery malfunctions and more and is controlled remotely by Vickers in its Manchester offices.
David Hilton, Managing Director of Vickers Energy Group, said: “An energy management system is a sure-fire solution for any company looking to reduce energy consumption, whether for economic or environmental reasons. The results seen at Dick Lovett are testament to the efficiency of the system and we look forward to working with the company further to install the system throughout the Dick Lovett Group.”
Cyril Cook from Dick Lovett added: “As one of the leading dealer groups in the South West, we require a significant amount of energy in the day-to-day running of our businesses and are very dependent on fossil fuels. This can prove to be both very inefficient and harmful to the environment, which is why we invested in an energy management system.
“We are really pleased with the results, particularly the huge reduction in CO2 emissions, which is really important to our environmental outlook. Plus, the guaranteed paid back period of 19 months is due to be met six months ahead of schedule, exceeding our expectations.”
Vickers was been awarded with the accolades of Energy Product of the Year from the Environment and Energy Awards 2014, a Gold Green Apple Award within their Energy Saving Category, Green Business of the Year at the Trafford Business Awards and is accredited by the Carbon Trust.
